Ticket Price: $5.50 (under 5 years free)

Godfrey Daniels sponsors Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild storytelling sessions throughout the year.

Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild

Family Storytelling Series

The Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild and Godfrey Daniels annually hosts the Family Storytelling Series, starting in January and running the first and third Sundays into April at Godfrey Daniels, at 2:00 pm, admission $5.50 (children age 5 and under are admitted free).

Partnering with the LVSG is Cops & Kids Lehigh Valley, distributing free books.

This is not a story time where books are read, but a family-oriented telling of stories, new and traditional, in one of the best listening rooms in the Northeast. In the cold winter months of an earlier time, stories were told around the hearth to help keep the heart of a family warm. Each winter, the Guild and Godfrey’s will bring back some of that heartfelt warmth that can not be achieved with central heating.

Check for information about the scheduled tellers.

Feb. 3rd – Karen Maurer
Feb. 17th – Ingrid Bohn
Mar. 3rd – Judy England-McCarthy
Mar. 17th – Denise McCormack
Apr. 7th – Kathy Long
Apr. 14th – Larry Sceurman

Monthly Story Circle

Second Wednesday of every month.

Godfrey’s is pleased to present family/adult storytelling. Join us and the Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild for this special night of sharing stories. You may bring a story to tell, or just come to listen. It is a small and friendly gathering where we tell personal, traditional and experimental stories and talk about the art of storytelling. Always enjoyable and always informative.

There is no fee, but donations are welcome. Just drop a few dollars in the guitar that hangs on the wall in the doorway.

A Little History

The Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild began as a way for a few tellers to get together and practice their art. It has grown into a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote this ancient art within the Lehigh Valley. The Guild host a monthly “Story Circle” at Godfrey Daniels; a monthly radio program on WDIY entitled “Stories in the Valley”; a series of Halloween shows; “Tellabration” in November; and the “Family Series” in the winter. Members of the Guild have been seen at Musikfest, Mayfair, Touchstone Theatre, The Sculpture Garden Concert Series, public libraries, schools, churches and organizations throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
