Ward Hayden & The Outliers

Ward Hayden is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist known for his distinctive take on country and Western music. Originally from Massachusetts, Hayden and his band, The Outliers (formerly known as Girls Guns & Glory), emerged as a leading light for contemporary country in Boston, a city not known for its thriving country scene.

Over the course of nine albums, the band has won numerous awards, including seven Boston Music Awards and an Independent Artist of the Year Award from the French Country Music Awards; along with an Americana Music Awards nomination for Artist of the Year.

Hayden’s musical tastes were influenced by his mother’s love for classic country acts and his father’s fondness for cowboy culture. As a result, his music blends traditional country sounds with a rock and roll edge. In addition to music, Hayden is a collector of antiques, curios, and country music memorabilia. He is proud to have developed his own brand of modern country and helped put Boston on the country music map.

The band – Ward on lead vocals; Josh Kiggans on drums and percussion, Cody Nilsen on guitar and pedal steel, and Greg Hall on bass – continues to tour in support of their latest album, Free Country, written and recorded during the pandemic.
