Ward Hayden & The Outliers

Ticket Price: $20.50, advance; $25.50, day of show

Ward Hayden & The Outliers are a Boston-based band whose music is a mix of country, early rock ‘n’ roll, blues, and country rock. Inspired by such artists as Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, they are now touring in support of their new album “Free Country” (the 9th album in their catalogue) and we’re excited to present them once again.

The band’s roots go back to 2005, and by 2009, their recordings were being noted with Boston Music Awards for Americana Artist of the Year. They debuted at Godfrey’s in 2009, in an early multi-artists Townes Van Zandt tribute show organized by the late Torchy Blaine, then a programmer with WDVR.

In the 16 years of the band’s history, there have been some changes in band personnel, and Ward’s songwriting and lead vocals remain the North star. Their new album was recorded during the pandemic and has been received with some excitement. Drummer Josh Kiggans (with the band since 2010) is the music arranger to Ward’s excellent songwriting. Guitarist Cody Nilsen, and bassist Greg Hall round out the sound. Together, the internationally touring, award-winning quartet delivers an original, unique sound unlike any other.

With limited seating, this show will sell-out early – don’t miss your chance to welcome them back to our humble stage.

“Modern-day Buddy Holly plus Dwight Yoakam divided by the Mavericks” – Rolling Stone

“Ward Hayden, singer and songwriter, sings with a timeless voice that recalls Roy Orbison, Dwight Yoakam, Chris Isaak and Hank Williams rolled into one yet somehow doesn’t sound derivative…”
– No Depression
